Date Night Ideas

Luke and I have been married for 9 years and one thing I've learned is that date night is a MUST to help us reconnect. Life gets busy and you get in your routine. When stress kicks in, you start to feel disconnected from your spouse. Make date nights mandatory in your household--once a month is a good starting place! Some places offer Parents' Night Out if you can't get a sitter. (Kid gyms, YMCA, churches--search online) We even swap with another couple and watch their kid while they go on dates--a way to earn free trustworthy babysitters!
Can't get a babysitter? Wait until the kids go to bed and pick one:
  • Make an indoor fort and watch a movie
  • Fireplace date with s'mores
  • Game night: double solitaire, king's corner, rummy, skip-bo, uno, poker, dominoes, puzzles, Risk, Monopoly, chess, checkers
  • Sit on the back porch with twinkle lights and a bottle of wine listening to songs you were into when you were dating
  • Scary movie in bed with popcorn
  • Bubble bath and candles
  • Late night pizza delivery and DVD concert of your favorite band
  • Ice cream sundaes and old video games
